Ethics in Publishing at Eye Supervision
At Eye Supervision, we are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in publishing. Our ethical guidelines are designed to uphold the integrity of the research process and ensure the credibility of the work published. Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to adhere to the following principles:
1. Authorship and Contribution
-
Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study should be listed as authors. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all contributing co-authors are included.
-
Acknowledgments: Individuals who contributed to the study but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged.
2. Originality and Plagiarism
-
Original Work: Manuscripts submitted to Eye Supervision must be the original work of the authors and must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
-
Plagiarism: All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism. Any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is unacceptable and will result in immediate rejection of the manuscript. Authors must properly cite all sources and obtain permission for any copyrighted material used.
3. Data Integrity and Fabrication
-
Accuracy of Data: Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented in their manuscripts. Data should be presented clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.
-
Raw Data: Authors should be prepared to provide access to the raw data used in their research for verification purposes if requested by the editorial board.
4. Conflicts of Interest
-
Disclosure: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could be viewed as potential conflicts of interest. This includes funding sources for the research, as well as any affiliations or financial involvement with organizations that have an interest in the subject matter.
5. Ethical Approval and Patient Consent
-
Ethical Approval: Research involving human participants or animals must have been conducted in accordance with relevant ethical standards. Authors must provide a statement of ethical approval from the appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee.
-
Informed Consent: For research involving human subjects, informed consent must have been obtained from all participants. Authors must include a statement confirming that informed consent was obtained.
6. Peer Review and Confidentiality
-
Peer Review Process: Manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the research. Reviewers must treat the manuscripts confidentially and must not use information obtained during the review process for their own advantage.
-
Reviewer Conduct: Reviewers should provide objective and constructive feedback and disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Reviewers must not have any personal or financial relationships that could bias their review.
7. Correction and Retraction of Articles
-
Corrections: If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate to correct the paper or retract it as necessary.
-
Retractions: Eye Supervision reserves the right to retract articles that are found to be in violation of our ethical standards. Retractions will be issued in cases of evidence of unreliable data, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unethical research.
8. Responsibilities of Editors
-
Editorial Independence: Editors have full authority over the editorial content of the journal and the timing of publication. Editorial decisions are based on the quality and relevance of the manuscript, without interference from the journal’s owner or any other external parties.
-
Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
-
Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
By adhering to these ethical guidelines, Eye Supervision ensures the integrity, transparency, and trustworthiness of the research we publish.
